Fresh off the success of his hit single
Buga featuring Tekno, Kizz Daniel sat with Angela Yee and Charlamagne tha God to discuss his music, family and his work-life relationship. Speaking on Buga, which held the record for most shazamed song in May 2022, Kizz Daniel revealed that he had no idea the record would get this big.

“I said to my team that I wanted to put out a record before my concert at the O2 and I wanted it to be big before the show. So I dropped the song a week before my concert and it became a hit, so the universe was definitely listening.”

With Kizz Daniel’s appearance on a platform as big as The Breakfast Club, it is clear that Nigerian music continues to travel the world, opening doors for artists on an international scale. The function of social media in the ongoing globalisation of Nigerian, and African music cannot be overlooked either, with platforms like TikTok and Instagram constantly boosting Nigerian music to a wider audience.
