A few hours ago, news broke that lawmaker and owner of Quilox Nightclub, Shina Peller is currently under police detention. Simultaneously, it has also been announced that his nightclub, Quilox, has been shut down by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency over allegations of noise pollution and traffic congestion.

Peller, who represents Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency in Oyo State, was said to have been arrested for Quilox’s obstruction of the free flow of traffic, according to Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana.

According to Elkana, after three cars were towed from Quilox today, Peller mobilised a group of about 50 to raid the Maroko Police Station and recover the vehicles.

“This honourable mobilised over 50 thugs to attack Maroko Police Station to move those vehicles out. We had to send reinforcement from neighbouring stations before they were able to curtail the situation. That was how he was arrested with five of the thugs, while others escaped. We had to exercise a lot of restraints,” Elkana said.

However, according to Peller’s fellow Oyo lawmaker, Akin Alabi, Peller was arrested after he went to the Panti police station to bail out three Quilox customers who were illegally arrested.
