Light in the Dark, the stunning but underseen drama starring a riveting Rita Dominic, is now available on Amazon Prime Video.

The film, which was released nationwide on January 25, 2019, follows a young couple, Emeka and Jumoke, who have been married for 11 years and are blessed with a 10-year-old daughter. Jumoke has been trying to conceive a male child to appease her mother-in-law, who never wanted Emeka to marry her and is insistent on a grandson. One unfortunate night, a gang attacks them, and the leader asks Emeka to decide who gets to be raped, his wife or his daughter? The events of that night will forever change their lives.

Surrounded by the darkness of one night’s ordeal perpetrated by a gang of robbers, a couple, on the brinks of divorce, seeks the light that only love can bring.

Light in the Dark is directed by Ekene Som Mekwunye and written by Babatunde Ojo. It stars Rita Dominic, Kalu Ikeagwu, Angel Unigwe, Joke Sylvia, Ngozi Nwosu and Saidi Balogun. The film brilliantly explores tribalism, rape, and trauma, and Muhammed Atta’s cinematography perfectly captures the gloominess of the story.

Dominic and Unigwe’s performances earned them AMAA nominations for Best Lead Actress and Best Young/Promising Actor respectfully. Dominic lost to King of BoysSola Sobowale and The Burial of Kojo’s lead Cynthia Dankwa scooped the award for promising actor.
