COVID-19 and the fallout of the inevitable lockdown were impactful on the creative industry for a wide array of reasons. For musicians, the lack of live shows diminished one of their most significant revenue streams. For the television and film industry, the restriction on movement put a pause on most productions. On the flip side, the period also provided additional inspiration and a wave of creativity. As the one-year mark passes, it’s expected we will see more work that was conceptualized during that period. A good example of that is Buhari Yesufu’s Sub Sahara self-described as “the first live-action play film” evolving from an experimental TV show into a movie.
