The news was confirmed by BellaNaija in an Instagram post on Friday.
“#LIB is set to make your weekend a ‘litty’ one with a 3-day limited comeback of your favorite #LivingIntheBondagetheSequel; starting from today 🎉,” they wrote.
The idea of a limited theatrical release was first hinted at by Charles Okpaleke, the film’s executive producer, at the end of February.
Living in Bondage: Breaking Free follows Nnamdi Okeke, the forgotten son of Andy Okeke from the original film. Nnamdi, like his father, desires the finer things of life, but unfortunately, he can’t afford them. That changed after an encounter with billionaire Richard Williams, who hands him the key to the good life, but at a cost.
The film was both a critical and commercial success – it grossed over ₦163 million, and critics praised both Nouah’s directing and lead actor Swanky Jka’s performance. The film is up for 11 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) including Best Actor in a Drama, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, and Best Cinematographer.
