LYB Paces Debut EP With Mid-Tempo Slow Burner ‘Hold You Down’

Inspired by the likes of Bob Marley, Runtown, Mr Eazi, Future, and Popcaan, along with an affinity for playing instruments, a skill he believes strengthens the weight of his penchant for emotive lyricism, LYB wants to carve a niche for himself that will appreciate with time. With a handful of singles and features, he is looking to expand his catalog, and in the third quarter of the year, he will be doing just that by way of a debut EP which he paces this month with Hold You Down, a feel-good Afropop inspired single largely inspired by the rekindling of old flames.

At first, listen, Hold You Down sounds like the typical Afropop formula but it subtly becomes an irresistible bop that can easily light up a room. Its mid-tempo coupled with the springy instrumentals and LYB’s corny manifesto punctuated by witty lines makes it perfect for the season.
