Masterkraft And DJ Cuppy Team Up For Gqom Led Track ‘Charged Up’

This year has seen an abundance of the utilization of traditional South African Drum; Gqom. From the highly commercialized success of Mr Real’s Legbegbe to a host of others, Nigerians are adapting to the loud and bouncy nature of the drum.

The duo of Masterkraft and DJ Cuppy are the most recent set of artistes to pick the bass drum as the leading instrument in their song titled Charged Up. Over a steady outpour of the Gqom fused with synthesized keys, Cuppy recklessly breezes through a narrative about fun Friday nights out. Along with Masterkraft who is said to have produced the track but offers no vocal input, Cuppy brings the same energy to the Avalon Okpe directed video in which she assumes the character of a Schoolgirl who tricks her School Bus Driver to go on a night about town adventure with her friends.

We have bared witness to a host of variations of Gqom led tracks and this offering is by far the weakest we have encountered. All in all, its likely to cause a stir in Clubs and will definitely retain spots on some sets.
