Sony Inks Two-Year First-Look Deal With Mo Abudu’s EbonyLife

EbonyLife Media, a media and entertainment company run by Mo Abudu, just inked a two-year partnership with Sony Pictures Television. The deal will grant Sony access to get a first look at all new scripted television projects created and developed by EbonyLife for a global audience which are rooted in the company’s to showcase ‘a pioneering and progressive Africa’.

Prior to this, both companies had been in a three-year co-development and production deal since 2018. The partnership witnessed the production of a Dahomey Warriors inspired television series. In 2020, Mo Abudu’s production company signed a deal with Netflix, in an attempt by the latter to expand into Africa. The Netflix-EbonyLife partnership birthed the production of two movies, Oloture and Your Excellency.

Speaking about the deal which took off in January 2021, Mo who doubles as a television talk show host said:

Taking African storytelling to global audiences is something we are very passionate about, and this new opportunity with Sony gives us a chance to reach massive audiences worldwide with our scripted TV series.

Mo started her career as the host of the talk show, Moments with Mo, before setting up her own production company in 2006. She shared the good news on her Twitter earlier today:
