MTV Shuga Naija Season 5 Gets New On-air Premiere Date

The on-air premiere of MTV Shuga Naija has now been moved from  Sunday May 7, 2023. MTV Staying Alive Foundation, who are producers of the series, have implored fans to be patient.

On the official Twitter page of MTV Shuga Naija, it was announced thus:

“we’re so sorry to announce a slight delay to the premiere of #MTVShugaNaija5. No worries #Shugafam, our new season will definitely be worth the wait”

The on-air premiere is now slated for Sunday May 21, 2023 on MTV Base Channel 322 and BET Africa Channel 129. 

Launched  in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2009, MTV Shuga has been running ever since as a drama series that captures the lives of young Africans in different moral circumstances. Since its launch, the show has been adopted in Nigeria, South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire and India, with its storylines often ranging from sexual health to gender-based violence.

The MTV Staying Alive Foundation believes in the use of entertainment to influence the social dynamics and living conditions of young people around the world. The initiative uses radio drama, digital, print and social media, and peer education events to reach out to and conscientize young people.

MTV Shuga Naija Season 5 has an interesting ensemble of popular screen faces and rising stars in the industry, which includes John Njamah, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Tomiwa Tegbe, Gbubemi Ejeye, Genoveva Umeh, Maggie Osuome, Okeh Uzoeshi, Sharon Jatto, Bolaji Ogunmola, Ilooise Omohimin, Lexan Peters, Susan Pwajok and Big Brother Titans star Kanaga Jnr.
