Mubi town finally cleared of terrorists.

The military announced on Friday that it had succeeded in clearing Mubi in Adamawa state of Boko Haram terrorists who took over the town late in October.

The military recovered the town from the terrorists about two weeks ago but the sect still operated in the environs, forcing the soldiers to expand its operation.

“More special troops are being deployed to other areas in the North-East axis in similar coordinated air and land operations to rid the communities of terrorists’ activities,” said a statement from PR Nigeria, the consultants to the military.

Some residents of the six Local government areas of Adamawa State which were under the control of the Boko Haram insurgents have been confirmed to now be under the firm control of the military and that residents taking refuge on the mountains tops are beginning to return to the towns.

The local government areas – Mahia, Gombi, Madagali, Michika, Mubi and Hong – have been completely liberated from the insurgents who are now on the run.

Many residents of Michika confirmed that the town had been liberated but that majority of the people had not returned because of the level of destruction.

They said many people lost their houses and business worth billions of naira to the attacks and were finding it very difficult returning home.

Mubi, which is the second largest town and one of the commercial hubs of Adamawa State, came under the control of insurgents in late October.
