The MultiChoice Talent Factory West Africa cohort’s class of 2023 is set to release the final student project Grown on March 2, 2024 on Africa Magic Showcase and March 9, 2024 on Africa Magic Showcase.

The film follows the life-changing problems encountered by a badly behaved teenager whose desire to grow up is brought to sudden reality as she wakes up as an adult, and her consequent struggle to be transformed back into an adolescent.

Popular Nollywood actress Efe Irele leads the cast of the film which also stars Najite Dede, Patrick Diabuah, BB Titan star Yemi Cregx, Bobby Ekpe, Sarah Obiekwe, Oluwaseyi Akinsola, and Ejovowoke Obas. The original story idea is credited to Uyioghosa Etinosa, while the film is written by  Boakye D. Alpha and Nosa Isibor. The producers of the film are Desmond Ebuwa Ekunwe and Nosa Isibor, with Ola Jegede and Empress Allen as directors.

“We live in an age where young children are exposed to so much content through the media and they push towards desiring to grow up rather than enjoying the phase of being young, naive, and simple,” said Ola Jegede, reacting to the sociocultural significance of the film. “We are happy we made a film that is didactic, exciting and nostalgic, causing a beautiful thrill for the audience.”

Co-producer Desmond Ebuwa also disclosed plans of the production team to organize watch parties for viewers at specific locations in Nigeria so as to increase anticipation for the film.

Grown will be aired on DStv Channel 151 and Channel 153 (GOtv Channel 6) on March 2 and March 9 respectively.
