Nigerian Producer, Rexxie Cries For Help From Ugandan Prison

Nigerian record producer and singer, Chisom Faith, professionally known as Rexxie, has been arrested by Ugandan immigration authorities, as he revealed on his Instagram account.

The artist, known for his hit track KPKP, reached out to his followers, urgently pleading for assistance. In his Instagram post, he expressed his distress: “I’ve been arrested at the Ugandan immigration. PLS, I NEED HELP!! This is so unfair! HELP HELP HELP!!!”

The details surrounding Rexxie’s arrest are currently unclear, but his message conveys a sense of urgency and perceived injustice. As the unfolding situation captures attention, the music community and Rexxie’s supporters anxiously await a swift resolution to this unforeseen predicament.

Rexxie’s detention follows closely on the heels of announcing his engagement to his girlfriend Innocent Chisom in Kenya.

Grammy-award-winning producer Rexxie isn’t the first or second Nigerian artist to encounter legal issues in Uganda. Rexxie’s arrest parallels the previous detention of Nigerian artists Omah Lay and Tems in December 2020, stemming from alleged violations of COVID-19 protocols during a performance in Kampala. In 2020, singers Tems and Omah Lay were arrested for violating COVID-19 restrictions after their unauthorized concert. The government considered the event unauthorized and promptly detained both artists. Following two days in custody, they were charged in court and later released.

The music community awaits further developments and hopes for a fair resolution to Rexxie’s situation in Uganda.
