Nigerian Singer, Lyta, Releases New Project Stranger EP

Nigerian musician and singer, Babatunde Rahim, popularly known as Lyta, has released a new EP titled Stranger. The Stranger EP, which is a feel-good inspirational treatise into the artiste’s journey and projections for his career, is Lyta’s way of asserting relevance in the fast-paced Afrobeats industry.

On the four-track project, Lyta starts by rendering praise to his abstract lover in “Stranger,” projecting her as his source of succor and peace. He makes promises on how he would care for his lover, and how he wouldn’t be a stranger to her. In “Stronger,” Lyta explores his wins and achievements in spite of the challenges and naysayers who predicted his fall. This could be an allusion to his challenging exit from YBNL in May 2019 after a disagreement with the label boss, Olamide, and how he maintained relevance in spite of this ruckus.

In Uglee Teemee-assisted Abena, Lyta reinstates his message and affection for Abena, and highlights how he intends to care for his woman. Lyta completes the project with a reaffirmation to his quest to remain relevant, and he reinstates that he is bound to achieve more in his career. In the last single, Koni Baje, rising superstar and streethop artiste, Seyi Vibez, is featured on the single, and the single is a track about hustle, resilience and achievements.

Lyta’s breakthrough track, Time, featuring Olamide, came after his signing with record label YBNL Nation in 2018. After his exit from the label in 2019 due to contractual and personal issues, he signed with Doro Musik Gang and he released Monalisa, produced by Killer Tunes, which attracted a lot of buzz and a remix collaboration with label boss and superstar, Davido.

In 2020, he was reportedly signed to Naira Marley’s record label, Marlian Music, a deal he has denied. The artiste has released a number of tracks including Worry, Ramadan, Are You Sure and Hold Me Down (Omo Gidi), amongst others.
