Nigerian fighter Kamaru Usman thrashed Tyron Woodley to become the World’s Welterweight Champion during the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) title, making him the first ever Nigerian and African to clinch the milestone.
The championship happened in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
The UFC is the biggest competition in MMA, where competitors combine boxing, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, wrestling and other disciplines while fighting in an octagonal cage.

The “Nigerian Nightmare” as he is fondly called however delivered an emotive tribute to Woodley, saying his name has do be mentioned in the history as one of the championship’s greats.
Usman also shared the moment with his daughter whom he walked up to the stage with as he said to her “I want you to remember this day forever”.
