December in Africa is more than a month; it’s an experience. The dry winds, endless nights, crowded streets, and long-awaited homecomings all merge into something unforgettable.
The parties run all year, but in December, there’s a reckless abandon that electrifies the air and sometimes makes hearts collide. Love in December often burns fast, sweet, short, and gone with the season. But every so often, though rare, it settles deep, steady, and lasting, stretching quietly into forever.
Noisy Streets’ Love in Detty December anthology was born to capture this very energy, to explore what it means to fall in or out of love during the most electric moment of the year.
Since their first edition, they’ve gathered stories that reflect the chaos, sweetness, and intensity of December romance. They’ve celebrated love in all its forms, and with their second edition, released their first print anthology: A Man and A Woman and Other Stories, a collection that brought the magic, mess, and emotions of December to life on paper.
Now, for the third edition, they are inviting young Nigerian and African writers to share fiction or nonfiction that explores love in December. They want bold, unapologetically authentic, unforgettable work that mirrors African realities while daring to reimagine them. For more information on the submission process, visit NoisyStreetss.com.
The deadline for submissions is the 10th of October 2025. Selected writers will be paid and published.
