Oladapo Tells A Compelling Story Of Love And Heartbreak In His Debut Album “In Case I Never Love Again”

Fast rising Nigerian artist, Oladapo has released his debut album titled In Case I Never Loved Again. In 2019, the artist made headway in the industry after his debut single Mango was shortlisted for Mr Eazi’s music initiative, Empawa Africa, where Oladapo went on to create another single Gbe Bodi. Since then, Oladapo has released his hit single Proud and his 2021 EP BLIND. 

In his new album In Case I Never Love Again, Oladapo takes us through a journey of love and heartbreak. The album begins with Elevator Pitch, a skit that signifies the point where he meets the central figure, inviting the audience to embark on the rollercoaster ride that is human connection and vulnerability. It continues with detailing the rosy start of the relationship in Perfect Timing, where he sings about the joy and consuming emotions he has towards his love interest and skillfully captures the intricate role divine timing plays in our lives. In If At All, the focus track of the EP, Oladapo uses a mix of English, Yoruba and Pidgin to express the extent of his affection, which he says is unintentional. The track makes use of a blend of Afrobeats and the thrilling Amapiano sound, laid beneath his calming and introspective musings.  In Case I Never Love Again takes a turn from rosy to lovelorn from the interlude Voicenote. The album then begins to explore the effects of emotional distance which leads up to Break Up and ends with his introspection on the whole situation in Over Again. 

In Case I Never Love Again is a cohesive body of work that boasts of Oladapo’s stellar songwriting skills and ability to paint an interesting picture. The album reflects a universal experience of love and the many confounding emotions attached to it.
