Following the release of his 6th studio album, The Glory in December 2016, Olamide released Love No Go Die, his first single since the start of 2017. After beginning the year opting to go for less releases and instead featuring on the work of other artists as always and only dropping two videos off his most recent album, Baddo has slowly worked his way back into the form we’ve familiarized ourselves with over the years. His return from a pretty short break, Love No Go Die saw the ambassador of the streets bare his heart as he admitted some element of dependence and hope for the flame never to lose its brightness. He then followed up with Wavy Level and now delivers the video for the year’s opening single.
In the video which is animated, Baddo takes a note out of Yemi Alade’s notebook as he features French subtitles which allows him tap into one of the biggest markets African and world markets. The story of the video can be said to be part Davido’s Gobe, where two men compete for a woman and then one double crosses the other and part your typical James Bond movie where poker and fighting come into play but comes together brilliantly and appropriately tells the story of the song.
Watch the video which was directed by Gbenga ‘Mannie’ Ajetombi
