Onalaja is a contemporary womenswear brand. The brand which debuted at Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2015 was also on display at the International Fashion showcase 2016 in London.
The label was founded by Kanyinsola Onalaja following her graduation from Istituto Marangoni in 2014. The brand aims to bridge the gap between Kanyinsola’s Nigerian heritage and flair for artisan crafts, Italian design aesthetics with the formality of the British tribalism and traditions.
The brand focuses on perfect execution, craftmanship and the imaginative concept of luxury and culture. Pieces are designed for the modern woman who represents the new ideal. The new ideal being where the woman is her entity, a strong representation of freedom, change and modernity. Onalaja experiments with fabrics, manipulation, textiles and color to create a refined yet creatively experimental piece, that is often unconventional but wearable.
