Conceptified Media and CANO Production have announced the date for the New York premiere of anticipated Nollywood film Love & Seclusion. The film, which is directed by Orire Nwani, was previously announced as a recipient of the 2023 New York City Women’s Fund for Media, Music and Theatre. The film was the only African production considered in the fiction feature category, as the award became a major boost for its post-production.

“I’m thrilled and humbled to be named a recipient of the 2023 NYC Women’s Fund,” writer and executive producer Clementina had reacted after recording the award. “Not only is it an honor to be among the talented women creators and artists awarded the finishing grant, but I’m also thankful to the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment for believing in me and helping me complete this project.”

Set during the pandemic, Love & Seclusion tells the story of a Lagos-based wife Tola (Tope Olowoniyan) who is desperate to have her first child during the lockdown while, unknown to her, her husband is skeptical about parenthood.

Written by Clementina Ojie and produced by Josh Olaoluwa, the film stars Tope Olowoniyan and Efa Iwara as lead roles, with  Inem King, Anthonia Okojie, Jaybo Charles, Olanrewaju Ayanwale, and Odiah Emmanuel in supporting roles.

The cinematography of the film was overseen by Adebowale Raji, and Roberta Orioma was the line producer. The film is set for a festival run after which its global release date will be announced.

Love & Seclusion is set for its debut in New York University on February 23rd, 2024.
