Following the release of Pheelz Good EP, Nigerian singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist has struck again with a new single YOLO that is accompanied by a commensurately upbeat video. Released on June 1st and produced by Rii Collective/DC Talent Agency, the infectious Afrobeats rhythm comes with a captivating message and vibes that showcase the singer’s dynamism.
While the song is blessed with overwhelming percussion against a choral backdrop, the singer croons “I’m chillin’ with the vibe, let me go go go”. His vocals are smooth and effortless, as they butter the hit, giving it a global appeal. The video inherits and emits the song’s lyrical quality, as it presents Pheelz relishing the pleasures of life—blowup pools, bus rides, and nighttime drives—with his friends.
With Pheelz Good having accumulated over 100 million total streams, there is no doubt that Pheelz has enjoyed immense success and is thriving as an artiste just the way he blossomed as a music producer. The EP contains eight songs and has collaborative efforts with Davido (Electricity) and BNXN (Finesse), weaving R&B into Afrobeats music.
Part of Pheelz’s achievements this year is a recognition from Pandora and Amazon music as “Artist To Watch”. Following his 2022 breakout single Finesse, the artiste has been on the rise. He recently featured at Essence Fest’s Afrobeats After Dark party in New Orleans and debuted on US television with a stunning outing on NBC’s Late Show with Seth Meyers.
With YOLO, the artiste proves that it is necessary to make the best of life notwithstanding the hiccups that come with existence. It is a song that resonate with the owambe culture of many Nigerians, as it projects to the world the miniature but positive image of a people who are driven to live optimally.
