In our latest digital cover story, Pretty Boy D-O declared his upcoming project Wildfire “conscious music that can also make people dance.” With the project now streaming on digital streaming platforms worldwide, it is clear he told no lie and has prepared for this moment since his last body of work, Everything Pretty. Armed with tracks featuring Olamide, Tim Lyre, WANI and Solana, Prettyboy D-O tells a new story on each track as he exists at a crossroads of genres as we’ve become accustomed to.
Announcing his arrival with Higo-produced Waka, he reminisces a lack of belief by those around him that inspired him and acknowledges the newfound respect they have for him today. The aggressive approach continues with Odeshi, one of the project’s singles and a fearless display that reminds everyone Pretty Boy D-O is untouchable.
D-O also manages to explore the topic of love on WANI assisted Mentally and Bulala featuring Solana. On the former, D-O sings “you dey kill me mentally,” touching on the power a love interest has managed to wield over him. The latter, a guarantee to get your legs moving is a sensual cut that sees D-O go heavy into his dancehall bag.
The biggest standout from the project is without a doubt, Wetin You Smoke which is produced by Telz and features Olamide. It is without a doubt at the heart of D-O’s artistry, embracing the streets and inspiring everyone to be the truest versions of themselves. Olamide’s presence without a doubt also helps.
Give Wildfire a listen below.
