It’s an exciting year for Nigerian music as Rema joins Tems to make his contribution to the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie.
The Mavin/Jonzing World signee shared a video snippet from the trailer of the sequel to the 2018 Black Panther movie where his voice was featured. Rema took to social media to share this phenomenal feat, expressing how he felt “speechless” to be a part of the iconic movie.

Rema’s stint on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever comes after Tems’ heartwarming rendition of Bob Marley’s No Woman No Cry in the official teaser for the movie. In the trailer, Tems performs No Woman No Cry and is joined towards the end by Kendrick Lamar who pulls off an exciting refix to his hit song Alright.
Tems also co-wrote Lift Me Up, performed by Rihanna for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever alongside Rihanna, Ryan Coogler – who also directs the movie, and Oscar winner, Ludwig Göransson. Lift Me Up marks Rihanna’s official re-entry into the music scene after a six year hiatus where she focused on her entrepreneurial side, Fenty Beauty.
Speaking on Lift Me Up, Tems said; “After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them. Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honour.”
Away from Rema and Tems, other African acts who have contributed to the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack include Ghanaian songstress Amaarae. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to be released worldwide on November 11, 2022, while the official premier is set to be hosted in Nigeria.
