Ghanaian Hip-Hop heavy weight, Sarkodie has dropped his highly-anticipated 8th studio album Jamz via Eagle/SarkCess. This comes after the release of lead single and visuals for Labadi featuring King Promise in September.
Mixing infectious African-inspired hip-hop sounds with elements of Afropop and Amapiano, along with Sarkodie’s unparalleled flow, the 10-track project sees the internationally renowned rapper collaborating with an array of some of West Africa’s best talents — Black Sherif, Oxlade, Lojay, Joeboy, BNXN and King Promise.
With stellar production from the cream of the crop of Africa’s adept producers, Coublon, Guiltybeatz, Masterkraft, MOG and TSB, to creating a showstopping soundscape second to none, this album is an essential.
Speaking on Jamz, Sarkodie said, “As far back as I remember, I always wanted to rap. I fell in love with this art form as a youth. Growing up in Tema gave me a lot to talk about. I’m on my 8th studio album and I’m still doing things my way. It takes a lot to stay motivated but you can’t be in a rush to skip the process. This new project is basically how I feel. This collection of songs is like your favourite playlist. Now let’s have fun.”
The follow-up to last year’s much lauded No Pressure album which featured collaborations with the likes of Oxlade, Giggs and Kwesi Arthur, Sarkodie’s new album will see him ending 2022 on a high. Recently taking to the stage at the Global Citizen Festival in Accra where he performed alongside Usher, Tems and SZA, he headlined the ‘Celebrating Africa’ concert at London’s OVO Arena, Wembley last month. In December, Sarkodie will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his career defining second album, Rapperholic.
