Savayo Shows Off His Range On Two-Part Persona Defining Single ‘Shades Of Sav’

Maryland-based Nigerian singer-songwriter, Savayo’s sound leans heavily on RnB, Soul, and whatever experimental sound that catches his fancy. With inspiration drawn from a range of artists, who are pioneers of their own sounds in their own rights, Savayo’s work ethic, sturdy and impressive, borders on evolution. Despite his neophyte status, he’s pushing past labels and proving his passion is innate. His last release, True, is a condensation of this, with his two-part latest, Shades Of Sav, serving as a sonorous attempt to double down on this phenomenon.

Shades of Sav is an Afrobeat-inspired two-part single with features from fellow up-comers, Foresythe and Laime steeped in Sav’s sound and story versatility and the chemistry he shares with the rest of the trio.

On the inspiration behind Balance, Sav said:

“Balance was made with the intention of being an upbeat dance type of song. I was in the studio with Killah Bass and Foresythe and I remember Foresythe saying “we have to make a banger” and I think we did just that.”

While, on Too Long, he said:

Too long, just like Balance, is a song that shows off my versatility and ability to adapt to more than one genre. The song Too Long literally came to me as soon as I heard the beat. It almost felt like it was meant to be because the song-making process was quite easy. It’s like one of those things where you freak yourself out after listening cause you’re thinking, “did I come up with that?”
