SGaWD’s ‘Feel Right’ Is A Mesmeric Epiphany Packed With Relatable Emotions

History has proven time and again that real life inspirations produce the most soulful of songs and budding Nigerian Rapper meets Singer, SGaWD is not lost on this phenomenon. Based on a real and turbulent relationship, her latest single, Feel Right is a sonic epiphany that made her realise she once had unreciprocated feelings for her partner at the time.

Produced by the acclaimed DOZ and featuring a verse from a rejuvenated Mafeni, Feel Right is a mesmeric ode to vulnerability in relationships, complete with references to self confidence, two parallels that exists in every toxic relationship.

Her voice smolders over DOZ’s jazzy production as she sings earnestly, leaving no doubt of the strength of her feelings. A starkly honest appearance from Mafeni whose verse finds him laying his flaws, plays into the theme of being vulnerable, matching SGaWD’s tempo and emotions perfectly.

As with all things, the relationship that served as the inspiration for this song came to an end, and with it brought about the realization of her lover’s true character.  Despite the tragedy, Feel Right paints a hopeful picture because there’s always a chance that things can go wrong. Loving someone because it feels right is human nature, and doing so doesn’t make us foolish. At just 22, SGaWD already understands that and is able to translate it in a way we can all relate to.
