Shatta Wale taps Olamide for Wonders Off New Album; Reign

When Drake dropped Scorpion this summer in the wake of his Baby Mama/Deadbeat Dad controversy brought on by his altercation with Pusha-T, contrary to the expectations of their spectators, it was well received. In fact, Drake seemed to have garnered unusual attention from factions outside his followership as a result of the bullet crafted diss tracks fired between both Rappers. The commercialization of the altercation cum album release, is one which is now being replicated in the Industry.

Amidst a controversy that led to a back and forth and the release of diss tracks between two of the most celebrated Artistes in Ghana; Shatta Wale and Sarkodie, the ‘Pusha-T’ effect was replicated. Following a diss track released by Sarkodie on Wednesday last week which lit the feet of their fans and other spectators on fire, Shatta Wale wisely pursued the heat spawning from the controversy with his 3rd Studio Album; Reign which has taken over the soundwaves in Ghana with tracks like Wonders featuring versatile indigenous rapper; Olamide who adorns the track with his signature indigenous stylized rap complete with yoruba inflections and gritty bars giving Shatta Wale room to stay true to his Nima inspired rastafarian lyricism and inflections and deliver cutting lines over upbeat instrumentals comprising heavy bass drums and synthesized keys. The track which serves as a Champions manifesto is the perfect end of the year anthem for ‘kings of the streets’.

Wonders is the 9th of 17 tracks made exclusively to solidify Shatta Wale’s presence as the King of Dancehall in Ghana and the only one with a feature in the Album. Whether this will lead to a replication by Sarkodie or an onslaught of diss tracks, no one knows but expectations are high.
