Each time Skepta is in Nigeria, he does something we’ve yet to see from anyone else. Think Easter, when he masterminded homecoming and brought brands like Off White and Nike to Lagos or when he was bagging a traditional title in his home town. This September, Skepta and Wizkid control the coastal areas of Lagos and ride our waves till they reach an all time high in the visuals for self peace promoting single; Energy (Stay Far Away).
The Meji Alabi directed visuals is chock-full of visually appealing Lagos sceneries creating funky aesthetics that serve as backdrops to Skepta and Wizkid’s individual monologues about their desires to live stress free lives. One minute, together with a myriad of colorful beachwear clad youths, they’re soaking up crisp beach air and the next minute they’re being swayed by groovy vibes in a club surrounded by colorful lights. These scenes are punctuated by occasional footage style scenes and rich displays of underground locations in Lagos.
