Zikoko’s “Siraam”: Teaching Young Women Consent Isn’t Enough

The Smirnoff Ice task hit the BBNaija house, and if there was ever a moment that captured what Bolder with Ice truly means, this was it. The brand’s message has always been about self-expression without limits, about how Nigerians show up differently depending on their mood, their environment, and the energy around them. Inside the house, that idea came alive in the most entertaining way possible, through personality, emotion, friendship, fashion, and pure fun.

Before the games even began, the housemates stepped out already living the brand’s message. Team Original and Team Double Black arrived in hoodies and jackets splashed with paint, matching pants and tees, each piece carrying “This is how we chill” across the back. It wasn’t just merch, it was a statement. Araga took his individuality even further, pairing the look with a bandana that made him look like a doppelganger of the rap legend, Tupac. That’s the whole point of Bolder with Ice, showing up exactly as you feel, without asking permission.

The first challenge, a game of broken telephone, tested something every Nigerian understands instinctively: how quickly a mood or a message can shift depending on who’s carrying it. Four housemates per team had to pass one phrase, “Chilling since 1864, bolder with ice, same great taste,” through four completely different filters. One recreated an image using foil, one dressed blindfolded, one identified song genres, and one danced the message onward before delivering it to Biggie. Every stage forced a different side of the housemates to show up, focus, instinct, rhythm, and nerve. Team Original’s message held together best for 40 points, while Team Double Black scored 30. Yusuf’s dance leg had zero rhythm, and the house couldn’t stop laughing, proof that even when things go sideways, the energy stays alive.

Next came the Ice Throne, and this is where fashion took center stage. Four-person squads had ten minutes to style one teammate using fabric, appliqué, and scissors from three mystery boxes, no rules, just instinct and creativity. Team Original’s Flora, dressed by Nomy, Barry, and Araga, walked out looking like she owned the runway, earning Team Original 20 points. Team Double Black’s Oyin, styled by Tram, Keivo, and Blue, brought her own flavor for 10 points. Two completely different looks and valid expressions, exactly the kind of individuality Bolder with Ice was built to celebrate.
The memory game brought a quieter, more focused energy into the arena. A sequence of fruits flashed on the screen, and one housemate per team had to recall them in the exact order. Barry stayed composed to score Double Black 10 points, while Tram matched his focus with 8 for Team Original. This round proved that concentration and calm are just as much a part of who these housemates are as the laughter and the noise.

Then came Shadow Partner, which became one of the most talked-about moments of the day. Two housemates stood face to face with a mirror between them, one dancing freely while the other mirrored every move. Chimsom and Bells brought sharp, clean energy for Team Original, but it was Blue and Oyin who had the house buzzing, their chemistry so tight it looked almost rehearsed. Both teams tied at 10 points, but the real win here was watching friendship and trust play out in real time, another form of expression the brand leans into all season.

The final challenge, Use Your Imagination, puts pure creativity on display. One artist per team had five minutes to paint the new Smirnoff Ice can outline on canvas. Keivo delivered a standout piece for Team Double Black and took the round with 20 points, while Abi held his own for Team Original with 10. No two canvases looked the same, because no two housemates express themselves the same way, and that’s exactly the message Smirnoff Ice keeps putting front and centre.
When the scores were tallied, Team Original came out on top for the day. Still, every housemate left having shown a different side of themselves: competitive, playful, focused, stylish, and unapologetically themselves. That’s the heart of Bolder with Ice, a brand that doesn’t ask anyone to tone it down or fit a mould, but instead meets every mood, every friendship, every burst of fun, and every shift in energy exactly where it is. If the task is anything to go by, this season is going to keep proving that being bold looks different on everyone, and that’s the whole point.
