Nigerian-American singer and songwriter, Somi has released her debut single for the year 2023 titled Options. Options, which is Somi’s third single, is a sultry love song that touches on the themes of love, romance, commitment or the lack of it.
On Options, produced by DAN SKA, Somi is talking to her lover, asking him to stay committed to her or she’s going to have to look for a replacement. “You know my heart beats for you, baby / Don’t walk away / Don’t make me look for options” she sings. Somi ultimately lays the perfect tone and energy for Lamii to come in and deliver as he sings in both English and Yoruba, giving a soothing vibe to the overall mood of the track.
Somi, whose unique sound fuses together elements of Afrobeats, West African inspired sounds, R&B and Soul, is an eclectic new-age artist who enjoys making music as an unfiltered expression of self. She is a true creative, and in just a short period of time, is already making a name for herself through her thought provoking lyrics, powerful vocals and her already emerging signature sound.
