The debut edition of Entertainment Law Connect Conference themed “The Law and Business of Entertainment in Nigeria” is set to hold on April 12, 2018, at The LilyGate Hotel, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. The conference is organised by Entertainment Law Connect, a group of young, innovative lawyers passionate about developing the entertainment law practice in Nigeria.
Entertainment Law Connect Conference is a gathering of stakeholders in the legal and entertainment sectors in Nigeria. The Conference provides a platform for artistes, legal practitioners, artiste managers, entertainment investors and consumers to discuss and debate the current state of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Olayemi Oladapo, in-house counsel at Mavin Records and convener of the conference, says, “There is a significant gap in the business of entertainment in these parts, and I believe we can fill the void by bringing to fore a robust knowledge of Entertainment Law with the help of seasoned lawyers in the said field and entertainment practitioners and stakeholders,”.
“At the end of this conference, we aim to have enlightened our audience on how to maximise income, the legal background essential for the success of the business in the Entertainment Law space”, he added.
The conference will feature four fully-loaded panels of a mix of artistes, lawyers and other stakeholders in the industry. Panelists include Isioma Osaje, Founder, Agency 106; Chin Okeke, Founder, GidiFest; Adebantu, Musician and Founder, Afropolitan Vibes; Korede Bello, amongst others.
The keynote speech at the conference will be delivered by Samuel Salako, Partner at Olajide Oyewole LLP, whose experience spans corporate and capital markets, analysis of legal and regulatory issues, intellectual property and dispute resolution.
