Akin Omotoso’s The Ghost and The House of Truth to World Premiere at Urbanworld Film Festival 19

Interesting times in Nigerian Cinema!

Several films from the country are playing in reputable film festivals across the world. Abba Makama’s The Lost Okoroshi is playing at TIFF, Mike Omonua’s The Man Who Cuts Tattoos will make its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival and Beverly Naya’s documentary, Skin, is playing at Urbanworld Film Festival.

Akin Omotosho, the director of the award-winning Vaya, will also be screening his latest, The Ghost and The House of Truth, at the 2019 Urbanworld Film Festival. The crime-thriller will be screening under the World Cinema Narrative Features section.

The Ghost and The House of Truth follows the life of Bola Ogun (played by Chewing Gum star Susan Wokoma), a dedicated counselor who helps convicts and the victims of their crime reconcile. When her 8-year-old daughter goes missing and police investigation makes no headway, she is forced to question her belief in forgiveness.

The film stars Tope Tedela, Kate Henshaw, Seun Ajayi, Ijeoma Grace Agu, Mairo Obruthe, Imoleayo Olusanya and Gloria Young. Kabelo Thathe, who worked with Omotosho on Vaya, is reprising his role as director of photography here.

The film will be screening on September 20, 2019, at Empire 25 – Theater 12. Watch the trailer below.
