The Leading Housewives of Lagos

Make way and move over, Real Housewives of Durban, because The Real Housewives of Lagos are here to snatch your wigs and cause a stir!

The latest installment (which is also the first Nigerian installment) of The Real Housewives franchise will follow the lavish lives of six of the most affluent women in Lagos, Nigeria and in true Eko style, the women will be serving up all the glamour, drama, luxury and tea-spilling chaos the franchise is so widely known and loved for.

Following the build-up and anticipation for the Naija edition, the recently announced star-studded cast of leading ladies has been the talk of the town, setting social media streets abuzz.

And then there were six…

Carolyna Hutchings (Caroline Danjuma)

Former Nollywood star turned business mogul, Carolyna Hutchings is one of the Housewives this season. Since leaving the film industry several years ago, she has dabbled in NGO work, the oil and gas industry, interior decoration, and is also the CEO of a real estate company, Hutchings Ltd. She was recently in the news over rumours of her “secret relationship” with Nigerian musician, Timaya, and of course, viewers are hoping to see the whole story play out on the show.

Revealing that viewers should expect to see her brutally honest side, she says that letting viewers into her private life would be an eye-opener for many of them.

Iyabo Ojo

The film star is a popular name in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, has featured in more than 150 films, both English and Yoruba, and has produced 14 of her own. The mother of two is also an influencer, entrepreneur and CEO of her Fespris Brand. While mixed reactions have continued to trail her participation, Ojo is expected to bring some much needed drama to the show.

Promising to bring her fun, bubbly side to the show, she urged viewers to expect to see the real her — which includes hearing her speak in Yoruba, which is her trademark form of expressing herself.

Chioma “Good Hair” Ikokwu

Chioma Ikokwu is what many would refer to as a Boss Babe. A lawyer and holder of multiple degrees from the University of Birmingham and the University of London and the Nigerian Law School, she has successfully built a career for herself as the CEO of global beauty company Good Hair Limited, while simultaneously running a women and children-centered charity called the Goodway Foundation.

A well-known shopping enthusiast and always dressed in high-end fashion brands and designer accessories, Chioma says she believes the show will showcase the culture and enjoyment Lagosians are known for.

Toyin Lawani

Gracing our TV screens once again, Toyin previously starred on “Tiannah’s Empire”, a TV show based on her life and work, while juggling the many roles she plays as a mother, stylist, and businesswoman.

Often praised for her bold and daring fashion styles, Toyin is a renowned fashion designer and stylist who has worked closely with popular stars, including Tiwa Savage, Wizkid and Ciara.

Laura Ikeji Kanu

Laura is a fashion blogger, author, and founder of Hey! Laura, an online entertainment, fashion, and lifestyle blog. She has since evolved from being just Linda Ikeji’s controversial sister, to carving a niche for herself as a content creator and author, taking her skills at running a successful blog and turning them into a book which she called “How To Make Money on Instagram: The Brand Influencer Guide”.

The wife of former Nigerian football player Christopher Ogbonna Kanu (another figure who can relate to having a more famous sibling),  believes RHOL allows viewers to see the real and human side of the ladies, hinting that there is no shortage of drama in this season of the show.

Mariam Adeyemi Timmer

Mariam Adeyemi Timmer is an expert Public Relations practitioner and fashionista who has worked with most of her fellow cast members in some capacity before, and thus, is expected to shake things up! Mother of one and wife to John Timmer, their 2015 wedding in Lagos and Dubai is still one of the most memorable and luxurious events to grace Nigerian tabloids.

Judging by the flamboyant fashion, savage one-liners, and overt displays of wealth revealed in the trailer for the show, the Real Housewives of Lagos promises to be a real treat for reality TV lovers across the continent.

The Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOLagos) will debut exclusively on Showmax on 8 April 2022, with new episodes every Friday.
