Tomi Thomas spent the last year bidding his time with music release, only offering the best of his signature gruff delivery by way of features that we’ve received with open arms. This week, he continues in the same vein as he teams up with long-time partner and sound genius, GMK, on Lagos (Everyday), a tropical take on an almost apocalyptic city currently tethered on hope.
The strung flamenco opening of the single which borders on acoustic glory is a typical Tomi Thomas and GMK affair and the most suitable introduction to their narrative. As usual Tomi Thomas is immersed in his metaphorical interpretation of what can be termed a hustler’s anthem which just the right amount of jazz, bass, and pop to turn words into a colorful real-life vignette.
