Uzor Arukwe Takes The Lead In Zombie Film  “Alive Till Dawn” Set in Nigeria

One of Nollywood’s foremost actors, Uzor Arukwe, has been announced as lead of the cast in Zombie film Alive Till Dawn which is set in Abuja, Nigeria. The film is created by Leo Obienyi who doubles as director of the anticipated project.

The synopsis of the film reads: “In the chaos of a zombie virus outbreak, an unlikely alliance forms when civilians, police officers, and criminals find themselves trapped inside a besieged police station. As the night unfolds, they must navigate treacherous undead hordes, and escape the building to reach the means to a rumored haven or become the very monsters they’re fighting against.”

In this film, Arukwe plays the role of a notorious and charismatic thug who, over the years, has earned confidence in his ability to make those around him fear him. Fans of the actor and the audience are set to witness the actor in a new dimension that will elevate his acting career.

“I have always wanted to work on projects that feel different from every other film I have acted in,” the Nollywood actor could not contain his excitement about the project. “I’m excited about the prospect of this one.”

He recently delivered a memorable performance in A Tribe Called Judah, a production which holds the record of the highest-grossing Nollywood film ever made, surpassing an unprecedented 1 billion naira box-office mark. From his many Nollywood appearances, Arukwe has proven himself as both a favorite of fans and other filmmakers, with his ability to render various characters with ease and depth distinguishing him. Arukwe’s latest role as a lead in Alive Till Dawn, an indie production from the maker of Road To Jabi, is yet another testament of his relentless acting efforts.

Also a  Zombie film, the short film Road To Jabi had a one-day limited cinema since its release in 2022 in three locations—Lagos, Abuja and Anambra, selling over 2000 tickets. Here’s an evidence that zombie thrillers could be a commercial hit if well made and promoted. 

Currently in its pre-production phase, Alive Till Dawn, Arukwe is poised to appeal to domestic cinephiles  and an audience of a supposedly uncharacteristic Nollywood genre.
