Uber is going to Abuja

In an African Business Report episode from earlier this week, the topic was revolutionary app, Uber’s introduction of a cash payment across many African countries.

UberNigeria’s General Manager, Ebi Atawodi, claims that while Uber became famous for cashless payments, that is not the company’s ideology but rather the exist off the idea of making travel more comfortable regardless of where they decide to launch. The decision to therefore accept cash is based on the fact that many African cities are cash societies and so it only makes sense to make such an option available.

The cash option has been employed heavily in Nigeria and Kenya and also started rolling out gradually in Johannesburg, South Africa in May.
