Anthony Azekwoh grew up as a child in love with stories — reading them, writing them, and losing himself in the worlds they created.
At Covenant University, Anthony pushed back against what he experienced as a restrictive environment. Then, in December 2016, an unexpected setback changed everything: his laptop broke. Searching for a new outlet, he turned to A4 paper and began sketching. One commission led to another, and with the earnings from his first job, he bought a graphic tablet and taught himself digital art.
Encouraged by artists like Duro Arts, Dukes Art, and Renike Olusanya, he doubled down on his craft. Soon after came The Red Man — a piece that travelled far beyond his page and took on a life of its own online. The growing attention around his work ultimately pushed Anthony to leave university and commit fully to life as an artist.
From album artworks for Afrobeats acts like @YoungJonn, @showdemcamp, @blaqbonezmusic , and @AdekunleGold to his recent Wedding series, Azekwoh’s work reflects a rare blend of writing and visual storytelling.
