Azaman tells the story of a middleman who absconds with money meant for another party, a common yet often understated occurrence in financial transactions. In Nigerian parlance, the meaning of Azaman is often extended as someone that is constantly in possession of money in large quantity. In VSagz’s song, the protagonist, the Azaman, is fraudulent being who, after swindling his anonymous “clients” money, gets on the run. But his evasion is shortlived as he faces threat and is ultimately apprehended. While lyrics spiced with local pidgin, soft rap bars and slang terms like “cash out”, “cast”, “update” and “fresh nigga” , the song focuses on themes that are trendy and relatable to the youthful population of Nigeria. The song’s catchy beats and melodious tune evokes an intense atmosphere that holds the attention of listeners and keep them on the edge of their seats.
VSagz’s latest song follows the release of Itendo Refix, featuring Osaigbovo Victor Iduseri and Fabomo Edoleyi, song delivered in a blend of pidgin-styled rap and local dialect. In January this year. Born Abolaji Sherif Olasunkanmi, Boy Muller hails form the city of Abeokuta, Ogun state, where he began his career as a comedian in 2020. Two years after, he discovered his songwriting gift and decided to give himself a chance in the music industry. This resolution resulted in the birth of his debut single Baller (Sope Otilo), in October 2022. Since then, he’s showed more signs of ambition, including getting featured on Carter Efe’s song Ololade Mi Carter.
