Nigerian skate collective WAFFLESNCREAM has shared a new film tagged Yasis. The 13-minute long cut features Nigerian skaters Fahd Bello and Henry Okwubuasi and Ghana’s Adrys Mantedent, Lionel McFirst, John Brobel, Yaw Adeiei, and J.Ganyobi. Shot on location in Accra and directed by Batswana videographer Mosako Lowsso Chalashika the film showcases community.
In attempting to navigate a road without the support of many others, it is evident that being each other’s fans has helped skaters in Africa grow and continue to skate. Through Yasis, we see the group of skaters featured celebrate each other’s victories. Also featured is archival footage from Ghana’s road to independence intended to inspire viewers to stay true to who they are.
