Women’s appreciation is garnering attention in music, and not just because it’s a revolving theme now, but because, slowly but surely, the world is beginning to ditch patriarchal narratives for more respectful ones. Towards the end of 2020, Wurld attempted to reinforce his presence with an ode to his growth, by way of a deluxe version of the anticipated Afrosoul project. He took his time on the introductory track, Bossy featuring Cuppy and Kida Kudz, to tell of his rapidly growing importance. However, as he prepares to share yet another album, he switches lanes and re-dedicates Bossy Part II to women, the core of his collaborative project with Sarz, I Love Gurls With Trobul.
The central theme changes on this new version powered by Erica Banks and Amaarae’s sassiness, fluidity, and overarching talent. Both unique in their own ways, they drive Bossy in different directions that will most definitely suit a myriad of narratives. Their contrasting sounds also provide the song with its exquisite flavor.
On his inspiration and the song’s diversity in sound and story, Wurld said:
“I love the idea of bringing different worlds together through the new version of Bossy. Bossy Part II further celebrates the unapologetic, confident, beautiful woman in control with new energy. Blessed to have Amaarae and Erica Banks bring new energy to the original version.”
