Young Jonn and Olamide Reprise Partnership with ‘Currency’

Young Jonn’s new song with the rapper Olamide, Currency, as its title implies, foregrounds a pursuit of money. But the new song is also a part of the former’s attempt to establish himself as a singer.

Young Jonn first found fame as a music producer, for which he is known by the popular epithet, “Young Jonn The Wicked Producer.” He produced Lil Kesh’s Efejoku (2016), Kizz Daniel’s Mama (2016) and Davido’s Biggest Backside (2015). He has even produced some songs for Olamide, such as his Story For The Gods (2014) and Bobo (2015), the latter earning him a nomination for Producer of the Year at the 2015 edition of The Headies.

Currency was released under Chocolate City Music, to which Young Jonn is signed, a partnership kickstarted last March with his release of Dada, a single in his debut EP Love Is Not Enough (Vol. 1).

Producing the new song is Killertunes, who, like Young Jonn, is a producer who has ventured into singing and songwriting. He too has previously worked with the YBNL boss, Olamide, producing his Motigbana (2018).
