Zashadu To Debut New Collection At New York Fashion Week

When thinking of high-end luxury handbag brands in Nigeria, Zashadu is one of the many few that comes to mind. With an ethos of using indigenous leather, natural dyes, and very skilled craftsmanship for a fine finish, it is no wonder the brand has gained global recognition. In a series that aims to connect West African fashion to the western world, Zashadu is one of three brands debuting their new collection at NYFW this season.

Zainab Ashadu, the founder and creative force behind the brand is putting Nigerian leather on the map since sgartinf a sustainable luxury label alongside a community of local artisans to make handmade leather pieces that retail for a minimum of £180.  She uses leather from the North’s biggest city, Kano; goatskin from the ancient North-western city of Sokoto; as well as python skin from snake farms in the region.

Zashadu will be taking on the global stage, as they will be debuting their new collection at New York Fashion Week tomorrow!
