Olamide gets spiritual on new release Poverty Die

This year we’ve seen Olamide; the infamous king of Street music adorn many cloaks. From phasing as a talent scout to contributing to the growth of the industry by offering memorable verses on collaborative efforts to creating, compiling and managing a joint team mixtape among other things. The year is almost over and the rapper is still trying to showcase the multifaceted nature of his artistry by stereotypically walking in the shoes of spiritual leaders in Nigeria through a character he assumes in his latest release tagged Poverty Die.

The fast paced song is built on a rhythmic soundscape reminiscent of typical Southern highlife soundscapes in Nigeria and its befitting for the aggressive monologue he chants that alludes his disregard for haters, his indulgence in his hustle and the achievement of his ultimate goal: to live well.

As time goes on, Olamide strengthens his ties with the streets with each release that is as relatable as the previous and the next and so long as he pumps life in to the streets, we’ll never have any problem with the one sided-ness of his artistry.
