Bigger Issues: Think About Giving Back More Often

Posted on

Life today is hectic; you’ll have work commitments, social gatherings, family events, and your health and well-being to consider. It’s a lot. However, often, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the things that don’t really matter in the grand scheme of life; trivial issues regarding work, life, and relationships will have no real impact long term. So, surely they’re not worth the energy you’re putting into them? Those who spend too much time investing time and energy into these matters, are never really fulfilled and truly happy; social media has a lot to answer for, but remember who’s in control of the phone!

There are much bigger things happening outside of what you’re dealing with on a daily basis; if you took the time to look at all the big issues around the world, you’d be totally overwhelmed. However, don’t despair; there are plenty of ways to bring some deeper meaning and purpose into your life so that you can stop sweating the small stuff and benefit from redirecting your energy. Those who invest their time and energy into giving back are usually the ones left smiling at the end of their week. The following are some ideas and inspiration for anyone feeling burnt out from the wrong things in life, and who is ready to give something to others for a greater sense of self, and meaning.

Giving Sustenance

There are literally thousands of people and families without the means to feed themselves, let alone enjoy all the basic amenities and luxuries that you’ll be used to each day. It’s always good to give back and to spend some time helping to clothe, feed, and shelter people when they’re in need. It can be overwhelming to know where to start, so stay local and look into hunger charities nearby, or head to see if there’s anywhere that can help take care of those less fortunate, who need volunteers. Making this a regular part of your life will not only help others but will ensure you get so much back and a sense of gratitude for all you have. You’ll make new like-minded friends and be part of a community that does good things for good people.

Providing Strength

Your strength might be physical, emotional, or both. You can help your local community with your physical strength; perhaps there’s an elderly neighbor who struggles to carry and lift things or a school that could use help with rebuilding a tired old old area. It’s time to ask around and keep an eye out in your community area for jobs you can do to give back and help. You might be emotionally strong, but not everyone is, especially if people are going through a difficult time. Therefore, providing a safe space for someone to talk and be heard can do wonders for an individual. Often, getting out in the open can be a great comfort.

Sharing Skills

Whether you have a talent for a particular sport, or you can expertly sing and dance, or woodworking is your hidden talent; help others enjoy the same. Use those skills as often as you can; you could entertain regularly, hold classes for people of all ages so they have somewhere safe to stay and make friends or give people something new to focus on so that the rest of their life feels a little more manageable. If you’re sharing your skills and what you enjoy in any way; the love will shine through and be passed down to anyone involved.
