Recognising that we live in a world that is constantly evolving, Crowned Gear stands out by always staying ahead of the trend without losing the essence of its mission and culture. Founded by Tolu Ash in 2014, the brand debuted in the global market in 2019 and has since been established as one of Africa’s emerging streetwear fashion icons with online operations spanning across South Africa, UAE, United States of America and Nigeria.
In true fashion, the brand is wrapping up the year with its highly anticipated Crowned Heritage Collection – a collection with a vibrant and unapologetic outlook on what it means to be African and youthful in today’s world that embraces diversity. The collection represents the dynamism of the African youth. It is a fine blend of modern fashion and charismatic culture rooted in African youthfulness.
Nigerian style icon Ash, the driving force behind the brand’s passion for Africa and culture, described the new Crowned Heritage Collection as “an appreciation of elegance in simplicity.” According to him, “the beauty in creative simplicity is what Crowned Gear aims to show with each design.” This is creatively highlighted with the items available in the Heritage Collection from the finely finished Crowned Heritage track jacket to the Crowned Heritage Trunk leather bag. The designs of all the items in the collection embody quality, creativity, elegance and simplicity.
Beyond the new collection, 2022 promises to be an exceptional year for Crowned Gear as the company has announced plans to launch its operations in Nigeria following its successful debut in the global online market. The founder explained the decision as an executive decision that shows the brand’s commitment to connecting to its roots. Crowned Gear will be opening an on-site office and gallery in Lekki, Lagos in the first quarter of next year.
Speaking on the plans to open a Lagos office in a recent interview, Tolu Ash said, “this is for the culture. Africa is making a statement globally and we’re a part of that statement. You look at how Afrobeats is setting trends in the world without losing its soul, that’s what we’re doing at Crowned Gear in streetwear fashion. We’re firmly connected to our roots and it’s one of the little ways we can give back. The acceptance we’ve gotten from around the world since we debuted our collections on the market has been fantastic to be honest, so we want to keep our brand real, trendy and connected to our culture.”
By setting up shop in Lagos, the brand is poised to scale up the network of its operations across different channels to meet growing demands. All the items in the Crowned Heritage Collection are exclusively available on www.crownedgear.com
