The resonating quality of good Music and its ability to make impressionable marks physically or emotionally is what makes it one of the most amazing methods of widely touching lives. Every few years, there is a cohort of individuals who feed on this feature in their goal to achieve sustainable development in the world.
More than two decades ago, off his 8th studio Album, Michael Jackson released Heal The World; an indelible track dedicated to his ‘Betterment For All’ concept that indirectly became a catalyst to a musical movement aimed at shedding light on pressing issues in the world. Heal The World inspired a plethora of similar tracks including United Support Of Artistes For Africa’s We Are The World and 25 For Haiti’s rendition of the timeless life changing track: two renditions that made changes Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations could only dream about making.
This year, the Global Citizen Organization of South Africa reprise the aim and reach of the timeless musical records listed above in their bid to achieve Nelson Mandela and United Nation’s first Sustainable Development Goal of Poverty eradication. They take two steps further by partnering with Warner Music Subsidiaries in the UK and US to launch a series of EPs dedicated to the fulfillment of this goal and a Global Citizens Music Festival which took place on the 3rd of December, 2018 in South Africa.
The Music Festival tagged Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 was powered by a range of artistes from all over the world including AY-Z, Cassper Nyovest, D’Banj, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Femi Kuti, Kacey Musgraves, Pharrell Williams, Chris Martin, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher, and Wizkid. All of whom contributed to the Organization’s world drive against poverty mandate.

Time after time, Music proves to be the most idealistic and realistic means of uniting people and passing across messages. In this instance, it has not failed and we can not wait to see the big things the Global Citizens Organization will achieve with the initiative.
