Alternative singer Falana has returned with a new single, Don’t Go Far, a mellow neo-soul number that reaffirms her place as one of Nigeria’s most unique and compelling voices.
Produced by Yinka Bernie (SAD GIRLS LUV MONEY, It’s Okay to Cry), Don’t Go Far pairs Falana’s candid declarations of love and affection with a background choral arrangement and jazzy percussion and strings, to create an atmosphere reminiscent of a warm embrace.
It’s Falana doing what she does best, harnessing evocative imagery like on last year’s Nostalgia—which, coincidentally, has been re-released as a two-pack with Don’t Go Far. The result is a potent record that lingers long after the first listen.
In the accompanying video, the singer waltzes on a beach front in a sultry red dress, singing for her lover to stay close by, recalling visions of their person, and professing her willingness to give all that they want. Crashing waves in the background add a sense of surrealism to her vocals, even when she holds still, with a look of longing plastered across her face.
Together, the song and visuals reinforce Falana’s identity as an artist committed to soulful, authentic storytelling.
In conversation with Culture Custodian, she described Don’t Go Far as “one of those songs that wrote itself and immediately felt special.” She hopes it becomes a soundtrack to people’s lives.
Following an impressive run of her evolving Take Me Home live pop-up concert series, which was held most recently at the Bello Dome, University of Ibadan, on April 18, 2026, this release builds on the momentum of an artist steadily deepening her relationship with her audience through immersive experiences.
Don’t Go Far offers a glimpse into the world Falana is building leading up to an eagerly anticipated body of work, her first since 2021’s Rising EP.
