Technical skills can be hard to pick up as an adult. After all, we’re past the age where things just soak into our brains and we’re perfect at it in just a couple of weeks. Kids find it very easy to learn new things, and we tend to lose that talent as we age. But that doesn’t mean you can’t learn at all! Watch Tutorials
When you can see how something is done, it’s a lot easier to pick it up for yourself. A visual aid goes a long way to helping you see how something fits into the world, and it’s much easier to understand than reading your way through some instructions. So get onto Youtube and search for beginner tutorials in whatever skill you want to learn. Follow along with more than one to make sure you’re getting all the knowledge you need, and cross-reference them as you go.
Invest in Building Kits
Building your own devices, such as computers or an ar15 kit, is a great way to find out how something works. The more you know about the ins and outs of the process, the better you’ll understand what it takes to put a fully functioning bit of tech together. And there are plenty of pre-made kits out there you can invest in for less than it would cost to try and work it out yourself. Make it a Daily Habit
The more you practice something, the better you’re going to be at it. That’s a simple truth, but it can still be a hard one to face. So if you want to pick up a technical skill that takes a lot of patience and steady hands, you’re going to need to make time for it every single day. Preferably you’ll have an hour to spare, but if not even just 15 minutes goes a long way. The more you can try something out, the more you reinforce the knowledge. Remember, kids often have an easy time of it because they learn through school, and they attend classes 5 times a week!

Teaching someone else a technical skill might sound like an annoying prospect, but it’s one of the best ways to back up what you’ve learned. You can much easily identify the things you’ve not quite picked up, and you can go over elements you struggle with – it’s just like studying for a test using past papers. So get a friend involved and walk them through.
