Netflix is increasing its impressive roster of Nigerian films. Kemi Adetiba’s gangster epic, King of Boys, is finally going to be on the popular streaming platform, alongside The Wedding Party 2 and Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons. FilmOne, the distributors of all three films, announced on their Instagram page.
King of Boys follows the story of businesswoman Alhaja Eniola Salami, whose dark past clouds her promising political future. It is an audacious political thriller that explores street influence versus political power. It also has a not-so-subtle feminist angle of how men relegate influential women to the background.
Merry Men is another of AY’s money-grabbing action-comedy. It follows the story of four wealthy Abuja men with booming businesses, fast cars and a panoply of fine women around them.
TheWedding Party 2, directed by Niyi Akinmolayan (The Set Up), is a rollercoaster of laughter. Just like the much-loved original, it had an almost-disaster wedding.
