KvY Muses on Desire and Fulfilment on New Single, ‘Know Ya’

Nigerian, Canadian-based Afro-fusion artist KvY has released his second single of the year, Know Ya. Know Ya follows his previous single, Cry, which was released earlier this year in February. Born Kesiye Aye-Dikuro, KvY takes pride in his versatility and his ability to merge his unique sounding vocals with cadences and flows that give listeners a “best of both worlds” feeling through his music.

KvY’s latest single, Know Ya, is an electric summer sound that features elements of reggae and RnB which combine beautifully into a perfect afro-swing sound. The record is full of straightforward and pleasing melodies from the artist, drawing listeners in as he muses on desire and fulfilment, albeit short-lived.

On the second verse, KvY introduces a rap-like flow that showcases his budding MC skills, proving he has more tricks up his sleeve besides his outstanding vocal performance which speaks to his versatility as an artist. KvY’s firm baritone carries the song as he croons smoothly, delivering his lyrics with a tone full of swagger and confidence.

“How many times we go kiss and mend it? Girl I don’t really want no more exes. Your heart is broken and I can fix it. You know oh oh,” KvY sings. He’s pledging his commitment and unwavering affection with that line. “I just want to get to know ya. Girl you got me losing composure. You know we not getting younger. Got a couple things I want to show ya,” KvY sings as he further reinstates his position and expresses his all-in attitude.

KvY has stated that he is heavily inspired and influenced by artists such as Frank Ocean, Burna Boy, Wizkid, MI, Lil Wayne and Drake to name a few. KvY has been making music since his 9th grade back home until he released his first official single Baddie in 2017, which he followed up with Higher.
