Following the release of his immersive five-track debut EP, Vibes Vol. 1, O.L.A returns with a fusion of high-spirited amapiano elements, mainstream house music grooves, and original Nigerian afrobeat slangs on his latest, Shade. Exhilarating live guitar, kicky log drums, and groovy house music keys, synths, among other percussion instruments come together to offer more than just “dancefloor vibes” according to O.L.A but also a perfect medium for him to express his admiration for Shade, his muse.
Sung partly in the Yoruba and Pidgin, Shade retains original house and electronic music intricacies while still being culturally authentic. This makes it more than just the perfect soundtrack for Nigerian dance floors but also a potential rave starter for a much wider musical demography.
Lyrically, O.L.A leans towards a rather simplistic approach as he employs short verses, repetitions, and a very catchy chorus to pass his message across.
Overall, Shade is a cohesive, and groovy party starter.
